AOL to feature photos, better search tools

NEW YORK, June 29 (Reuters) - America Online Inc. will offer online photo delivery along with an enhanced
search capability as part of its new AOL 5.0 software, a senior company executive said Tuesday.

Jonathan Sacks, senior vice president and general manager of AOL's service, said the new service would be
available to clients this year. It began preview tests in three cities this week.

''The new version brings a few important things to our customers,'' Sacks said in a telephone interview. America Online is the biggest online service
provider, with 17 million customers.

The new features include ''You've Got Pictures,'' which was developed in a joint venture with photography giant Eastman Kodak Co. (NYSE:EK -
news) for sending pictures via electronic mail.

It would be available to AOL customers who drop negatives off at any location that develops Kodak film. The photos would be sent back via AOL
and made available to anyone approved by the customer.

Sacks said it will also offer improved searches of sites both inside and outside AOL. ''The new search allows you to search both America Online and
the rest of the Web,'' he said.

''That is a big benefit because ... a good portion of this kind of stuff that people might want actually is on America Online.''

Among the new features, users can customize their initial screens. Sacks said the new service would feature an online calendar that would allow group
planning.

AOL shares gained 2-1/4 to 106 on the New York Stock Exchange in midafternoon.
