OT:

I'm interested to see whether Qwest or Global Crossings gets the nod to sweep them up (I'm pissed at myself for holding GBLX through this fiasco).

Don't feel bad. I own Qwest at a loss and couldn't dump it because of the extreme gap down after they announced their bid.

On the subject of La-Z-Boys and e-commerce (and forcing it back on-topic eventually), I discovered an ideal combo of the two through a junk-mail card yesterday. There's an outfit that does business in Seattle, but seems to be located elsewhere, that will deliver video, DVD, or computer games right to your door. I ordered two videos last night and had one of them in my VCR a half-hour later.

It's a great idea, and a perfect example of the kind of thing that would work ideally as e-commerce on a TV. Once video-on-demand is available, there'd be no reason for something like that, but that is still a ways off for most of us that aren't in one of the technology demonstration cities. In the meantime, this kind of physical delivery mechanism is a close second. And hey, they will also deliver snacks with the video and you can't get that on even the thickest pipe.

(The outfit is kozmo.com and they're not public, so I'm not hyping them. I have no idea even if it's a decent business model, but they sure do have me hooked.)
