Howdy Dipy. Long time.
I am not sure that the main battle between India and China will be on the economic front. Early in the 90's Rao and Xeng's govt's have almost but signed on an economic cooperation treaty. Guess what, Washington got nervous. You buddy Slick willie threatened China with sanctions and unfavorable consideration with MFN status etc. etc. Well, I have no proof to support these claims. All I know is that it is very very likely these are true.

I personally no supporter of BJP because of its RSS ties. However I do like Vajpayee as I believe he is one of the only few politicians with an iota of character left. Oh, I know you are a big supporter of Clinton perhaps you are not big on character! -g-

Any how, I know you are anti-nuclear India - but hey, how do you know if they really detonated an n-bomb? For all you know it may be a cluster bomb. If India can prevent CIA from detecting its plans to conduct the tests, it can make them believe they actually conducted the test. Not to mention the fire-crackers that were detonated across the boarder. -g-
