With the strength of CUST lately, could it be that MS funds are accumulating? They have been known to acquire positions in companies with related technologies.

Just a thought.....could be that this encryption technology is better than other's.

Is ZixMail any better than Outlook used with a digital signature?
Why would anyone buy from an unknown like Zix ( even if there was an actual product, not just a web page) instead of Microsoft?

Simply by changing your email system from Outlook to ZixMail, you can send and receive encrypted and digitally signed email communications without changing your existing email system!

Does that answer your question?

A little more from Microsoft on digital signatures for message encryption:

VeriSign is Microsoft's preferred provider of digital IDs, and is the leading provider of digital authentication products and services. Through a special offer from VeriSign, Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 and Outlook users can obtain a free trial digital ID which you can use to positively identify yourself to, or receive encrypted messages from, business associates, friends, and online services when you use secure e-mail.
