I don't think you will necessarily see initiation of coverage or announcements immediately after the quiet period...I thought the ending of the quiet period is when the company can begin talking to analysts...

Can you name one IPO where the underwriters did not issue recommendations immediately following the quiet period?

BTW, anyone who didn't have a hand in the offering can issue a statement at any time. This just happened about a month ago on a big-name internet IPO (I don't remember which one, though) where someone issued a strong buy either the day of or the day after the IPO.
