CDMA Development Group Welcomes China UNICOM to the Organization; CDMA Has Promising Future in China

COSTA MESA, Calif., June 29 /PRNewswire/ via NewsEdge Corporation -- The CDMA Development Group (CDG) today announced that China United Telecommunications Corporation (UNICOM) has become a member of the Group. China UNICOM joins the more than 100 member company association, giving China's second-largest telecommunications carrier access to the world's leading resource on all CDMA-related issues to support the growth of CDMA in China.

"The CDG welcomes China UNICOM to the Group and looks forward to helping with the expansion of CDMA in China's telecommunications market," said Perry LaForge, executive director of the CDG. During the CDMA World Congress held in Hong Kong, Mr. Wang Jianzhou, Executive Vice President of China UNICOM said that his company was pleased to be a member of the CDG and looks forward to working with the members to further the technology's capabilities. At the World Congress, Mr. Wang also introduced for the first time, UNICOM's plans for deploying CDMA in China. "China's telecommunications marketplace has a bright and promising future for CDMA. The CDG looks forward to contributing to the accelerated development of China's telecommunications industry," added LaForge.

The CDMA Development Group (CDG) is a nonprofit trade association formed to foster the worldwide development, implementation and use of cdmaOne. The 100 member companies of the CDG include many of the world's largest wireless operators and equipment manufacturers. The primary activities of the CDG include development of cdmaOne features and services, public relations, education and seminars, regulatory affairs and international support.
