Yahoo?
Avivah Litan, research director for interactive financial research at the Gartner Group quoted in the June 6, 1999 Bank Technology News that "My sources say that Yahoo is negotiating to acquire CheckFree's e-commerce and billing business." Continuing he says, "Portals, banks and brokerages look at electronic bill payment as a way to get users to their Web site, and if Yahoo buys CheckFree they'll be getting the monopoly seller of [EBPP] services, which would give them a big lead."

The value of this "monopoly" is anybody's guess. What is the future value of several million eyeballs (transactions)per day? My guess is between 50 and 100 bucks per share (+/- 5 percent).
