Sure James..you made it happen. Trying to lump HP and Sun in the same breadth as examples of declining Unix workstation sales is pretty pathetic and in line with your Microsoft PR Day Job. Sun has been shipping a record number of Workstations - at HP's expense - Having Sun own this market is a great proposition for Sun. Its not a surprise that HP, SGI and IBM are choosing to sell NT since they dont have to invest in creating technology anymore and can bludgeon each over the head with $500 "Workstations". As far as IDC's predictions - the fact is that Unix Workstation Revenue is Many times higher than NT today - showing where customers are putting there money.

If its Microsoft vs. Sun - so be it - theyll be the Coke and Pepsi of the next generation - but damned if they'll end up as RC Cola!

Any predications on Sun's earnings this quarter since your so good at predicting the past - how about taking a shot at the future?

Gee, With all this NT Workstation business flowing their way, you would think Compaq/DEC, SGI and HP would have a business which was growing as fast as Sun..NOT! (actually most of these companies would simply settle for growing).

As far as Intel is concerned they better get something right, the Merced Fiasco needs no elaboration as one of the greatest pieces of non-news/non-product vaporware ever, the Pentium III proves that they have zero in the way of new ideas or pricing power and that customers wont pay a premium for Pentium III, IV or XXIV. AMD is going to make life miserable for a long time and their ASP's will crash faster than your NT workstation running an EDA Application!
