n other telecom news, Lucent said it expects Asia-Pacific sales from newly acquired Ascend Communications to grow by more than 50% this year. Ascend, recently renamed InterNetworking Systems, generated sales of $1.5 billion in 1998 and expects $2 billion in sales this year. Lucent completed its $25 billion acquisition of the data-networking company last week. Meanwhile, Lucent said during a press conference Monday that it plans to make more acquisitions, according to Reuters. At the conference, Lucent reiterated its expectations for a 20% increase in revenue and a 35% hike in earnings this year. RT
