Reseller -

Interesting thoughts about the MP3 developments.

Meanwhile, here's an interesting datum about Orb performance vs. Jaz.

Jaz drives come with write verify enabled by default, although it can be turned off via software to improve performance. Iomega uses Jaz drives with write verify ON to produce all their performance specs, since the majority of users will be using them that way.

Castlewood, on the other hand, has chosen to publish performance specs based on drives with write verify OFF, even though they recommend that all users enable it. That would mean that the write performance users get wouldn't be the same as what Castlewood claims for the drive.

if the clik! MP3 sells (and there are currently indications that sales are lining up), everything Cohodes says is irrelevant. he should pick on someone his own size. the potential benefit of shorting a company at $4 1/2 is incredibly, ridiculously low. it's doubtful he's telling the world his views to help IOM shareholders out of a potentially losing position. His views have only of late come to fruition through IOM's mismanagement of assets (relative to earnings), which he claims as credit for waning demand. Demand has increased, IOM's mismanagement of it's costs have been it's share price problems. His reasons given re the MP3 are ludicrous.

Reseller, you said >The existing MP-3 players are designed on the idea of free loading of music, the music companies have trumped MP-3. IMO none except those with inexpensive removable media will succeed.<

Now, THAT makes sense!
Especially if music will be frozen
on the first medium it is downloaded to.
