I am not inconsistent. The presumption is always in favor of responsibility, and a clear case must be made against it. You have not done so, but merely assumed the "biological imperative". The fact that one is motivated does not mean that one is under compulsion...Now, if you make the broad deterministic argument, I would merely say that I do not accept it, and that even were it true, the maintenance of social norms requires that people largely be held accountable...
