So far; we have had a tech plunge about once ever year. We had one in the summer of 1996 with a nice recovery in the fall leading into Christmas. We had a horrendous 4 month tech bear market Jan.-Apr. 1997 with a massive summer rally; then an Asia scare to kill the market starting in Oct. of 1997. The entire first 9 months of 1998 was a tech bear market in everything except the internet stocks which just kept going up up up. Then we have had a recovery in the techs that has been long lived and slowly everything pretty much with a few exceptions has come back nicely. We had a collapse in the software stocks in March/April 1999; weakness in things like DELL for the last few months and disk drives have been down; internet stocks have been trending down since April. IPO's though have been mixed with some red hot so the market isn't cool at all. Many things continue to recover and trend upwards in the techs while other things are down and just sitting; software such as NETA, PSFT, AXNT or things like SEG; sitting at a temporary bottom in a well-supported tech market. Should we have a bear hit the techs; these would collapse is my guess and the hot stuff would fall and trend down less severely. We haven't seen any evidence of institutional dumping of tech stocks; 50% drops at the open type of thing. We have been seeing buy on dips in everything tech for months and months. Until I see something change; buying on dips seems to be the rule.

MusicMaker is going to IPO today; could be a hot IPO. I've been following this one; it is part of the new way music will be distributed. Reston, VA company; I should take a look at this one in person.
