...butchered translation snipped...

My gosh, what a translation! That really is a prime example of an awful German->English translation. It's sort of an interesting study in linguistics though to see where and how the butchering occurred. Perhaps writers of translation software could use this passage as part of their test suite?

Amazing what no news will do -- here I'm engaging in a lit'ry critique, instead of discussing the pros and cons of shorting TRBD(F).

P.S. JohnG (or someone else fluent in both English and German), is a direct translation of the original press release's subjunctive mood possible? I.e., could the original be translated into English and still have the original flavor?
