MMPT from Motley Fool

Online advertising agency Modem Media.Poppe Tyson (Nasdaq: MMPT) said it has ended its relationship with AT&T Corp. (NYSE: T) because "our philosophies and strategies are not aligned." Still, the ad agency said it remains "confident with our ability to meet current analyst consensus estimates for 1999."

Hmmm... This does seem interesting.

MMPT; looks like a lot of people have asked the same questions...

WHAT THE HELL DID THEY DO THAT FOR????

Rande Is .... a contrarian, and asks ...OK why would you do that? This market is to opportunistic to do something stupid... What could it be?

1) MMPT is negotiating with a competitor and needs to break its relationships in order to complete the deal

2) MMPT is being purchased by a T competitor and needs to break its relationships in order to complete the deal

If this can be looked at as a positive then one would have to envision this as a possible MAJOR deal, since who would cut their own throats by nixing T

OR

MMPT really #$!#%@ things up!

>Keep this one on your radar for a turn around, if you would. It smells like something is up. . .and it isn't the price [said like Groucho Marx pen substituted for cigar]<

I love your thinking here and I really cracked up over the Groucho Marx line. I ran a couple of charts on MMPT:

I would have to agree with your contrarian viewpoint. MMPT looks like it's worth starting to accumulate to me. Buy low and all that....

Thanks, Jeff

Rande, I like your assessment of MMPT this past week. I had position traded MMPT back in March for a decent gain (would've been better if I'd held longer). I do think I will revisit this one again as I also think that something potentially is happening. And yes, that nice little float can work wonders - in May the stock shot over 6 pts intra-day on "only" a Bear Stearn analyst favorable comment in Business Week (they've got a $45 price target)

Your "got a better offer from T's competition" scenario could be the jump start needed, after all they did say they still felt comfortable with annual estimates. I will watch it for any signs of positive activity and get in although I may probably start a small spec position on Monday. Thanks for the heads up, as I just started back reading this thread more frequently and look forward to more insightful commentary from all the thread regulars (oh why did I wander these last few months? looks like I missed some good calls as I now look back)
