Looking at gains from the October lows is looking at a "once in a century, if not millennium" event.

The LTCM fiasco, with all of the big institutions mimicing its errors created the biggest fire sale on on financial instruments that any of us are likely to see. ever!

Yet this sector remains highly cyclical. Sentiment goes from the most depressed outlook that another tool will never be sold again to the most manic views that the sector is no longer cyclical, that unprecedented growth will carry on forever.

Which is nice for those willing to go against the flow. Market beating returns become the norm.

So there may well be 30 baggers. But except for the folk who bought on Oct 8th, such returns are unlikely to recur.

FWIW,
Ian.
