(COMTEX) B: ITEC BEGINS VOLUME SHIPMENTS OF THE COLORIMAGE 6000 DIGIT B: ITEC BEGINS VOLUME SHIPMENTS OF THE COLORIMAGE 6000 DIGITAL COLOR PROOFING SYSTEM PRINTERS SAN DIEGO, Jun 30, 1999 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- The ColorImage 6000 System, a Fully Integrated Color Proofing Platform that costs under $5, 000 which was demonstrated at Spring Seybold by Imaging Technologies Corporation (Nasdaq: ITEC), has begun shipping in volume. The CI-6000 Digital Color Proofing System meets the needs of color critical print production users, graphics artists, photography studios, and fine artists. It features extremely high quality image reproduction, improved productivity, and operational flexibility. ITEC's newest proofer can deliver proof prints throughout the design and production process, which saves both time and expense. "The CI-6000 combines ITEC's strengths in color technology with a high-reliability Lexmark print engine to create an integrated, networked, color proofing solution, all for half the cost of the printing system with which it will compete," said Brian Bonar, ITEC Chief Executive Officer. The CI-6000 is a complete high-resolution color printing platform that includes ITEC's award winning ColorBlind(R) Parachute, a color management software for superior color accuracy; ITEC's Virtual Color Network (VCN)to direct color management over the color server network; and a Lexmark six color ink jet print engine to deliver outstanding print quality. TheCI-6000 incorporates an external image management color print server that hasthe power and storage capacity to simultaneously spool, process, and printjobs from both the Macintosh and Windows/NT operating environments on thesamenetwork. At the heart of this advanced digital proofing system is ColorBlind(R)'s Parachute color management software. Using the ColorBlind color management engine and ICC profiles, users can produce accurate, predictable, and consistent color proofs. The six-color print engine delivers a wide color gamut that includes half-cyan and half-magenta inks, so gradations are smooth and highlights won't wash out. The CI-6000 System also includes ColorBlind(R) Edit, a powerful color-correction and image enhancement application. With ColorBlind(R) Edit, users can apply various tonal curve corrections and global and selective color corrections in a device-independent color space. ITEC's Virtual Color Network provides clients of the color server with complete control over the color management process. Each client can create unique setups (folders) on the server that contain specific processing choices for images and illustrations, for RGB, CMYK, and GRAY color spaces, as wellas varying rendering intents. Users can simulate paper color, and otheroutput devices including analog proofing systems or printing presses. The preview feature allows clients to view output before printing saving time, ink, paper and frustration. With standard ICC profiles for Imation Matchprint, DuPont WaterProof, and Fuji Color Art simulations, the CI-6000 offers critical features needed for a complete prepress solution.
