I'm very much in agreement regarding new era. I'm no economist but I do know people. People do not change at the rate that would be neccessary to make "new-era" work.

And the new-era types have been consistantly wrong (they like to quote only numbers that support their case).

This market keeps looking for numbers to back its move - now tomorrows national PMI will be all the buzz unless FOMC comes out with something unexpected today. Ah well, volatility is nice, any direction.

Does anyone know how the reconstitution of the Russell indexes that takes effect today works? Their site has a 6/25 preliminary listing of additions and deletions that are to take place after today. I guess only subscribers have access to the final list and the actual percentages for the re-balanced index. Have the funds which are keyed to the Russell indexes been adding and deleting going into today or does the fund rebalancing take place at the end of today / early tomorrow?
