Another thought... The judge must also have known that his "little white lie" comment was going to get back to the jury. No judge that I know would ever talk about it being OK to lie. Unless of course the US justice system has a different fundamental principle re the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth than we expect in Canada. ;-) So I suspect that he has plans for his 4th of July weekend that he really doesn't want to break.
