Regarding Too Trite...

Frank,

I do kind of miss those innocent days, when most (me included) believed that the Internet was malleable, and one could introduce a standard, or design a protocol, and then have it implemented. Those days when one believed that the "World Wide Web" was the Internet, and as quickly as the Web changed, so did the Internet.

Well, at least I was not the only naive one. Even the telcos thought they could march right in, throw around some money, flex their muscle and everyone would bow in reverence. NOT

Since then I have learned that I am just a newcomer to a old and wise establishment. Built on decades of discussion. Slowly and methodically evolving. Where change is measured in drafts.

SF Chronicle article on AT&T TCI @Home "slow down" coverup-
It seems that TCI has a policy of limiting upstream transport to 128Kbps and has instructed their customer service reps to not volunteer any information to their customers
go to sfgate.com
and search on TCI to find article. The URL is too long to get inserted here.
