Bob,

Cyrix continuing to be in the business.

There is just too much money/volume in this industry for anyone to go away. Cyrix pioneered the sub-$1000 PC, and the low cost manufacturing VIA provides will allow the combination to push system prices down to the sub-$200 level.

All, a french website has a K7 "preview" with some interesting information:
(translation by Alta Vista)
K7 is under embargo for the press until August 9, you will not thus find any tests valid by then, indeed the persons in charge of AMD make sign a small sheet stipulating this date with all people receiving a model of evaluation. For the manufacturers, the embargo goes until August 16, dates to which they will be able to announce their new machines based on AMD Athlon.

Of course AMD could release the embargo before that.

The preview also states that motherboards from FIC and MSI are "already ready."

No benchmarks are given, but the reviewer states, "I have of them one in test and I am very impressed!"

Further information is to follow later this week. The site is
