Conner26,
On page A12 of Investor's Business Daily there is an article of interest to all of us, entitled "Draw Up Each Day's Battle Plan Before The Opening Bell Sounds". I wish it were available online to read but I don't subscribe to online IBD.
It's a full column+ so hard to retype here, but it is worth trying to find, maybe at your local library if you don't happen to subscribe to it.
The gist is to clear your mind, exercise, and put everything out of mind except the market...for retail stock trader, check IBD for "coming up" preview of the week's major economic news at bottom of p. 1. Get overall world snapshot by scanning "IBD's Top 10" and the news capsules in "Business News" p. 2. Check interest rates, etc.
Check "General Market and Sectors", review DOW, S&P 500, etc.,

****I think the most important thing in this article is this sentence: "Market gurus and company analysts crank out conflicting opinions all the time. But the only opinion that ultimately counts is the one distilled from actions of buyers and sellers in the market. In fact, those aren't opinions, they're verdicts."

Try to find it....
