Sonny,

What the heck is the matter with our Intel?

Today, I think it's the buyout of NSM's Cyrix division by Via, Taiwanese manufacturer of PC chipsets and motherboards. NSM had said they would shut down Cyrix, which makes x86 compatible CPU chips, if they didn't have a buyer by end June. So, I guess Via is the eleventh hour savior or something. Cyrix shutdown, of course, would have meant one less competitor for Intel. One guy on the AMD thread thinks Via has very deep pockets because they have a big Taiwan plastics company behind them, and then Taiwan Inc. behind that.

So, here we go again. A butterfly flaps its wings in Asia and people think Intel will catch cold.
