Steve,
I do something similar, adding to LEAP puts on the significant rallies, and dumping them usually at some relatively small profit when it looks like the market is ready to take off again.
This market has been a very sadistic torturer for most of the bears these last several years, fooling many of them into losing mucho dinero. Being a bear in this kind of environment, I consider myself lucky just to break even shorting the indices! On stocks, I have done a bit better, picking up many good bargains and then selling or writing calls on the rallies. I can't bring myself to go long the overall market at these inflated levels, but feel much more comfortable being a bull on individual beaten down stocks. It's tough out there these days! Yogi
