That's not the main thrust of the name change, that was about the just the capitalisation -- I don't have to tell you which computer manufacturer with a capitalized three letter acronym has a long track record for being perceived as arrogant ;;).

The main point for changing the name is to have a name that matches the product line better -- watching the headless 64-cpu server at one of our customers, it was ironic that it's called "Silicon Graphics" even though there is no graphics card in it (well, except for the 80486 thinggummie that's doing the display for the system controller ;) )...

That's why "Silicon Graphics" is now reserved for (surprise) the products that *do* have SGI graphics in them ;).
