RDM - Re: "According to the source, Barrett will then present Merced demonstrations using real silicon at the next Intel Developer Forum, in September. "

Gee...maybe we will get to SEE Merced systems BEFORE athLOSS systems !

Wouldn't that make AMD look like the great success that it is !

RDM,

Sources close to Intel claimed today that Craig Barrett will announce Merced has taped out, in the next few hours.

It is a sign of desperation to announce a first tapeout. Too many things can go wrong with first silicon to stake your reputation on it.

RDM - <Who said Intel does not released tape out dates?>

You are quoting the Register for the love of Pete. Are you kidding?

<Sources close to Intel claimed today that Craig Barrett will announce Merced has taped out, in the next few hours.>

i seriously doubt you will see CRB announcing a tapeout, supposedly within minutes afetr it supposedly happened. Get a grip.

As far as the whole question of Merced samples, they are on target for Q3 delivery, as was stated in April.
