What surprised me about it was that they made sure a note was posted telling people it was not an earnings pre-release. The last story i posted hints at what Alan Buckley just posted.

Could they revise estimates for future quarters? I doubt they would do that before the actual earnings release.

I am puzzled. Windows2k accounting similiar to what happens in Office accounting. I remember that Maffei was asked that question in the last quarter's conference call ---- I remember the answer hinted that they would look into it. That would be consistent with an end of quarter announcement. Maybe they want to start the same thing with Windows2k in order to ensure that NT sales don't die off in the meantime.

I guess we will have to see.
