I am not so sure about TSMC.

They may have more INTC business to lose than they are likely to win from VIA.

My bet would be on UMC in some way - with National buying the wafers and reselling to VIA as a way of finagling the IP issues.

Interestingly, I saw some slokets that accomodated Cyrix chips into a slot one board the other day. The same sloket accomodated a Socket370 Celeron so apparently the M-II is already adapted to Socket 370/intel infrastructure. So VIA packages M-IIs as socket 370 and away we go again...
