Re:"SDMI initiative has recently introduced the use of DSP-based music file identification through a digital watermark that is inaudible"

Rocky,

I may be mistaken, but I don't believe this is "the" or even a solution presented by the Secure Digital Music Initiative (SDMI). I thought SDMI is rather a set of guidelines for the future of digital music.
from your newsclip:
"The SDMI said it will support all audio compression formats that offer secure download measures."

Iomega and Liquid audio presented their own solution that meets SDMI guidelines; however, SDMI did not introduce this or any other solution.

Why do you say IOM is left out again? Do you know what DSP is?

Once again Wocky you miss the big picture.
We all know we can store thousands of sound files on our huge and cheap hard disks.
The question is how many songs are you going to download onto your $100 48MB CF cart ??? 9. Period.

If a kid wants to take half a dozen CD's worth of music to school to share and trade with his friends how's he going to do it ??????
With an ORB cartridge ? Nope.
With $1000 worth of CF ??? Nope.
With 20 Memory 'crap on a sticks' ? Nope.
With $50 worth of Clik! disks ??? You bet.

Yeah Baby!
The market will dictate that CF is just too damn expensive.
