INTERNET--(esecurities.W)--July 1, 1999 - iEarth to J. Carlo Cannell.

(RED HERRING) RH No 68 July 1999 www.redherring.com J. Carlo Cannell, President of Cannell Capital Management in his RED HERRING article, page 140 Heard from the buy side Why Internet stock mania is the perferct storm suggests that the greatest investment opportunity today is in pairing long positions in strong "franchise" Internet companies with the short sale of weak, pubescent companies aka so-called concept enterprises with generally untried management teams, thin balance sheets, toxic convertible financing, unknown auditors, whiffy promotion, and hokey products. J. Carlos Cannell, President, Cannell Capital Management, specifically cited ThrustMaster as such a short candidate.

untried management team>Senior DIMD and INTC execs

thin balance sheets>wrong ref/ as empirically corrborated on this thread, SEC Filings.

toxic convertible financing>wrong, as empirically corroborated on this thread, SEC Filings.

unknown auditors>Coopers & Lybrand LLP

whiffy promotion>WON.net (Havas/Sierra), EarthLink (NASDAQ:ELNK), CHUMBO.com, Intel&reg, ZDNets Computer Gaming World.

hokey products> thrustmaster.com wecantalk.com ; NASCAR&reg franchise, pending release of Reflex controllers with reportedly built-in superior contribution margins...

we are not suggesting TMSR is a STRONG BUY nor a BUY but we certainly are suggesting TMSR is a STRONG HOLD...Cannell is simply very naive to have gone on record with such apparent and alleged lack of due diligence, not to mention pursuant to a stock which has taken on an apparent 'physics of its own' associated with TMSR pursuant to its formidable short position...viz a viz % of float, days coverage...time is fast moving over to TMSRs side...as we head into q3 and actual/substantive? WeCanTalk.com Internet Telephony 10-10-WWW revenues and q3 [hardware] profitability?...perhaps TMSRs latest Internet banner ad Well, Punk, Do you feel lucky?, Do ya? was directed at Cannell's unconditional Public Recommendations on SHORTing TMSR...our conclusion?...we would like to see Cannell Capital Management go public so we would be in a position to short Cannell Capital Management...a RED HERRING column?!...perhaps there is an UPSIDE after all?
