MICROSOFT CFO SAYS NO CHANGES IN ANALYST GUIDANCE FOR REST OF CALENDAR 1999.
this is not good news in my opinion.

That is not how i understand it. He was unwilling to discuss the outlook or change it since they will be discussed in the earnings conference call. The point is that this CC was not to change guidance going forward--and that was not its purpose.

Your quote doesn't tie in with the revised guidance for Q4 - where did you get it?

Also, Greg said a few times that this was not a call to discuss revenue projections. How could they therefore change their guidance (beyond the 1 penny increase that just comes from reworking the arithmetic)

taxman and t2k, I had to run out today so I am glad that you had a chance to go through the call. I am relieved that this change is due to the accounting standards, but I must say that I cannot help but feel that the DOJ is sticking the screws to MSFT through an additional channel.

I'm sure that this will work out. I am real pleased with the earnings outlook.
