Mexico City, June 30 (Bloomberg) -- Mexico canceled plans to
lift a 4 percent tariff on natural gas imports, in response to
allegations by independent U.S. oil producers that the country is
selling crude below production costs.

If SLB was the acquiring company it might make a little more sense but I tend to side with your view of the theory.
