This just feeds the vampire of Political Correctness, which is a subtle censor. To the narrower point, even if one of our fellow posters identified herself as black - we would owe her the courtesy of thinking of her as an Individual first, an American second (if applicable!), and black third. This is mho.

I think the demographics of people on the web is overwhelmingly male, white, middle-class, Republican/libertarian. And SI is about money, so I wouldn't expect a lot of liberals, other than limosine liberals.
