I thought you were making some kind of comparison to the reporting techniques. You didn't say much if anything in the post but put up two articles that looked very similar. One I think was from the LA times and the other was from a poster here at SI.

Both were quite similar (if not the same) I thought you were trying to imply the LA times copied Cheryl.

I don't think it was a great post from the stand point you didn't explain why you were posting it or what point you were trying to get across.

I apologize if I don't meet your standard on what you think I was supposed to know. Whether or not I have a clue about the global economy is really no concern to you. Instead if you put up a post like that with two similar articles, it would help if you put a explanation as to why you formatted the post that way and what you expect people to be able to discern from the information.

but I disagree with all of your hints

#1 -- knowing why something happens is something worthwhile. If you have a problem say you work in a factory making widgets and say every 5th widget comming off the assembly line happens to be defective. You say I learn by what has happened: "yeah we learned something is wrong" but that won't improve anything. Knowing why it happens is the first step in building a solution to the problem.

#2 I don't watch mainstream television. I own one but we only receive one channel and its a startup company PAX ( quote.yahoo.com ) . I have never seen the news on that station. Plus since they don't have much to offer at this point, I find myself not watching much television. I also don't subscribe to newspapers. They don't really serve much of a purpose except to kill trees (well the trees are already dead so it doesn't really matter). Instead I buy a newspaper maybe 4 times a year and then only on Sundays because you get more paper for your dollar. There is much more to life than watching TV. Now if I want to catch the news I typically go here: cerio.com <== a place to catch the news as it happens, raw, un editorialized to a degree (there will always be the bias of the reporter).

#3: I don't see your point about computers. If we didn't have them life would be much different. Yeah I was a math major in college but when I first started doing computers It was something enjoyable. Take a look at geocities.com if you want to see something completely different that I worked on in college. I don't see anything wrong with using computers. Its not 'selling out' if you decide to do something with computers. Heck this posting board wouldn't exist if the PC wasn't avialable for the general public. Science and computers forms a strong base. Putting the two together lets people do things that have never been done before. Whats wrong with that?

In terms of economy, going to scientists or mathmeticians and asking them whats wrong with the economy will probably yield many different answers. If you want to get a taste at the truth ask someone who studies that subject for a living. Seek someone who has a PHd in Economy, preferably one with an emphasis on the world economy. As I do not have such a degree I don't even bother attempting to explain things. I do notice patterns and the big picture. But thats something you consider 'selling out' As you previously stated in point #3.

No I don't see your point. Your explanation didn't really explain why you posted two similar articles.... Your hints appear to be a bit biased and not well thought out.

But thats ok with me, I'm not trying to prove anything, but I do have a clue as to what life is all about and the answer isn't 42.
