re: mexp press release

it appears that the utilization of 3-D is benefitting the results of exploration. nice to hear that their drilling expenses are coming in well under budget as well. now is the time to drill on the cheap.

the only potential negative in the press release was the following...

The Company has hedged 50% of its current production for July through October at $2.31 per Mmbtu and over one third of its November 1999 to March 2000 production at $2.63 per Mmbtu.

i guess i'm more irritated at the nov. to march hedge as all indications at this point suggest that gas prices might reach considerably higher prices. still, you can't dispute decisions which protect the miller family's business; they have been under the gun. and the hedge prices are a helluva lot better than the ones crk locked themselves into.

i follow petd and recently consulted with their ir dept. they have no hedges on current NG production and don't anticipate hedging unless prices spike considerably higher. might be one to have a look at. it has sold off a little lately and looks like it could slowly and surely double in the next 6-8 months. fwiw

good luck,

brian
