Shares of Illinois music label Platinum Entertainment (PTET: news, msgs) may see a pop this week. The company owns at least 798,000 shares of Musicmaker.com (HITS: news, msgs), the Reston, Va.-based company that seeks to sell 8.4 million shares to the public at 12 to14 a share this week. Musicmaker.com calls itself the Web's first and largest custom CD and music download site. Platinum Entertainment has made no secret of its stake in Musicmaker, which could command a market capitalization of $600 million if the new stock rises to 20. Platinum, for its part, has a market capitalization of $50 million.
