EMC (the company) is doing fine…

1. Mentioning EMC in the same sentence as some of the disk drive companies shows a huge misunderstanding. I sure hope that people who are following this area of SI are a bit more educated…

2. All indications are that even in the short term this EMC / HP story could have a POSITIVE effect on EMC revenues (as they don't have to share the wealth with HP). It won't surprise me to see that EMC exceeded target this quarter…

3. I am sure that if you look at the alliance with IBM and the HP breakup together, you may see that EMC is getting closer to IBM as they were convinced that they can't gain too much with an HP relationship.

4. It won't surprise me to see IBM terminates some storage related alliances and strengthen the relationship with EMC

So if you put it all together, I think that it is easy to see multiple scenarios that put EMC on top…

VFD,

ReHowever, have you ever seen STK, NTAP mentioned with SEG?.

Good point, no. One of the CNBC daytime reporters lumped EMC with one of the hard drive makers a couple months ago, got slammed for it, then actually apologized on a message board. Yahoo? He said, '...hey, we can't be expert on all the groups.' At least he was honest. Ted someone?
