I don't know what part of Earth you heard that news from, since it surely hasn't reached any investors here in America:

INTC: 62 1/8, +2 5/8

Earlie - <Uh, Mr Intel promotion man, how about a few comments about the problems Intel is having with .18 before jiving us with this .13 borsch. Is it not a fact that the problems with your .18 process are what is causing these interminable delays in a certain new micro that just can't seem to get out the door?>

Message 10342234

<And uh, perhaps you might wish to tell us what you intend to do this year when the K7 arrives. INTC doesn't have anything like it until year 2000 you say?,.... and perhaps AMD will drop the ball?>

The .18 desktop product should be competitive with AMD offerings.
It will certainly cost less to produce than the Athlate, which has a huge die size.

<And one more question sir,...who the heck is going to buy all these new fast micros when there is a glut in today's offerings?>

Who won't be buying them?

<And at what prices? Will you guys still be pricing micros in dollars by the time that new fab sees the light of day, or will you be bartering bags of them for for happy meals?>

So just go out on a limb, and make a concise prediction of the demise of Intel. Intel's cost structure continues to improve. Coppermine on .18 is an extremely efficient part to produce. I stress extremely.

1) Did intel really say this? Post a link.
2) This is Q2. So what?
