Well, that obviously was not the short interest at the beginning of the day. But, it probably is or less now.

The short interest has increased significantly since last week because it moved up a few points over the takeover price of $25 1/2 (the $25 1/2 takeover is a done deal). Shorts must believe that it's a sure thing to pocket the difference.

If it's not shorts who were desperately buying to cover, who else would pay $100 for a $25 1/2 stock?

Nah but in the 30's I'd have started to get jumpy for sure.
