MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., July 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Netscape Communications, a subsidiary of America Online, Inc.
(NYSE: AOL - news) today announced the signing of agreements with leading search providers for its popular Netscape® Net
Search program. The Net Search Page, one of the most heavily trafficked pages on the Internet, helps millions of visitors to
Netscape Netcenter and users of Netscape Communicator® browser software find the information they need quickly and
easily. Beginning July 1, 1999, Netscape's new search service will be joined by Excite, Google, GoTo.com, HotBot, Lycos,
Looksmart and Snap.com as Premier Providers for the Net Search program.

''Searching for and finding specific information online remain at the top of the list of activities for our growing daytime audience.
As one of the most recognized and trusted online brands in the world, millions of consumers come to Netscape each day to
access our search and directory services,'' said Jim Martin, senior vice president and general manager of Netscape Netcenter.
''Through our Net Search program we will continue to offer users a choice of leading search providers, and at the same time
extend the reach of Netscape's own search service. For our members, ease-of-use and relevancy are critical. We believe we
are delivering one of the widest arrays of choices in the industry in order to help our consumers find the information they need
both quickly and easily.''

The Net Search page features premier providers with tabs and links that highlight their respective Internet services and gives
users the option to select a preferred search provider to be displayed whenever the Net Search page is accessed. The page
also offers users value-added services such as reviews and search tips. The page is available at netsearch.netscape.com
or by clicking the Search button within Netscape Communicator. The Net Search page also showcases several distinguished
providers that offer specialized search services and allow users to choose the one that best suits their immediate needs. These
categories include: Search the Web, Explore by Topic, Find a Person, Find a Business, Home & Auto and Shop & Buy.

The Net Search program is a key component of Netscape's comprehensive suite of Internet search and directory services.
People looking for information online can find what they need, in one convenient place, by taking advantage of any number of
Netcenter Internet search resources including: the new Netscape Search, Netscape's Net Search page, Netscape Smart
Browsing, White and Yellow pages or Netscape's Open Directory Project.

The new Net Search program builds on Netscape's announcement last week of its new Internet Search service, Netscape
Search. Netscape Search is powered by Netscape's fast growing Open Directory Project and utilizes Netscape Smart
Browsing technology, which allows consumers to search the Web using simple words and phrases right from the browser
location bar, to deliver accurate and relevant search results quickly and conveniently.

Netscape is a leading provider of software and services for businesses that want to transform the way they create and keep
customers in the emerging Net Economy. Recently acquired by America Online, Inc., Netscape is based in Mountain View,
California.
