Good morning, thread. We're off to a poor start, but I don't think it will last. Analysts are reiterating their strong buys and Lehman pushes the stock. The SEC investigation is NOT anything to be concerned about. Today might be ugly, but we'll roar into earnings over the next 2 weeks.

The Adviser.com Alert -
the-adviser.com

Dear Clients and Investors:

In a continuation of missteps and legal
challenges, Microsoft Corp
announced that the U.S. Securities and Exchange
Commission is
investigating the software giant's accounting
policies for setting aside
reserves covering such things as returned
software and undelivered
upgrades. In a last minute conference call, Greg
Maffei, the Company's
CFO, said Microsoft was "cooperating fully",

the-adviser.com is exclusively
reporting that several key Wall
Street analysts were dumbfounded at the Company's
response. The analysts,
all of whom requested to remain off the record,
believed that Maffei was
simply not credible nor forthcoming in the
conference call when he
indicated that although the SEC investigation was
initiated in January, he
only learned of it "some months ago" but could
not remember when.
Management also indicated that they did not know
the entire scope of the
probe. Although we have not yet been able to
confirm several additional
facts, we understand that the SEC has received
extensive assistance by a
former Partner of the Big Five Public Accounting
Firm that previously
signed the certified audited financial statements
of Microsoft. Additional
news is forthcoming and will be reported by
the-adviser.com.

Although The-Adviser.com remains extremely
positive on Microsoft (one of
our Top Ten Stock Picks for 1998), we do expect
increased negative
volatility in the short-term and would use large
negative swings (if they
occur) to increase our position.

Complete details of our exclusive report on
Microsoft is available on at
