Hi John, it is most interesting what I can learn from internet talk with American people. Newt Gingrich was a college professor? Imagine, in our media he looked and was listened to like a farmer or the head of a farmer's club. Clearly we have no direct understanding of his rhethorics, and details of his action or rhetorics need not be cleared up in German news. But also from the few times I watched and listened news on CNN or NBC about him I had not guessed a specifically intellectual background.

I understand from your labeling of yourself as Gingrich-infected that Mr. Gingrich used to use very pointed rhetorics. As you can see from my former reaction on you, we are used to moderate tones in political discourse over here. But still it is the politician's greatest concern to be in the headlines, whatever he/she has to do for it.
E.g. the leader of the socialist/communist (PDS, formerly SED of Eastern Germany) visited Mr.Milosevic to take garden holiday pictures together when around 20 days of bombing had been done. I did not fancy this because the level of political discourse on Kosovo crisis here was clearly too low, and Mr. Gysi had clearly no intention to change that.

I never knew about those Puerto Rican guys. How can I read it up? Which word would tell me a pointer to more information? And how many similar situations have to be considered for the US?

As an additional favour you might explain the acronym G.O.P. to me, sometimes I find it in texts without knowing its' content.

Regards, MNI.
