A Press Release I'd like to see soon: "Air Touch Satellite Services (ATSS) announced today that it had finalized agreements with 30 of North America's largest retail providers of cellular phone services to distribute Globalstar telephone services accessible through ATSS's four North American gateways. The agreement provides for the retailers to make an advance commitment to purchase in bulk at steeply discounted rates access time to the Globalstar system during the first 24 months following service launch. The "bulk buy" of access time virtually "sells out" the Globalstar system resources allocable to North America and assures ATSS and Globalstar of sufficient revenues during the critical start up phase to meet their business plan objectives. The retailers, comprising the most successful cellular service providers in the US, Canada and Mexico, in turn will receive non-exclusive access at highly competitive rates to the Globalstar system. With the benefit of the discounted "wholesale" rate provided to these vendors, ATSS expects that retail prices will be not more than 60% of the prices charged by competing satellite service providers, while still providing ample incentive to the retailers to aggressively market the unique Globalstar product. Separately, ATSS announced it had reached agreements with leading manufacturers of Sports Utility and Recreational Vehicles to offer the Globalstar car kit as optional equipment on their vehicles starting later this year. "We believe the Globalstar car kit, providing in one compact, low cost package conventional cellular, satellite cellular and position location services will be a uniquely attractive option for purchasers of these vehicles, which frequently travel well outside the reach of terrestrial cell service," said ATSS' president."
