Ali,

In Texas it is PROHIBITED BY LAW to built a single-family
home smaller than 1700 sq.ft.

In Texas it is more important to have a nice home, because the hot weather keeps people indoors. For better or worse, people tend to spend a lot less time in their homes here.

Ali, (off topic) don't generalize Palo Alto insanity to the rest of CA. San Diego has most 2000 sq.ft. homes < $300K. And I found that SD and CA taxes are much better than New Jersey, where I came from.

I hope your Master lets you sleep inside in his big house.
