I completely disagree. In fact, I think it is the wave of the future! *Everything* will be auctioned. Cars, stocks, labor, electricity etc... Etc....

I agree eBay is a short. But when and from what level. It seems to enjoy much retail buying. I think it will drop a lot. But again, it is risky to short here, because it is 80 points below its high.

I came to this conclusion after attempting to buy DVD's online. Curiously, most don't sell for significantly less than you can buy them for at outlets such as 800.com. So why go through all the headaches of bidding, negotiating shipping terms with sellers, getting a certified check, and so on?

Simple -- it's a fad.

Some of what's holding Amazon afloat is this same faddishness. Online shopping will become more and more utilitarian over time.
