Lucent to supply GSMC equipment for PCS in US$45m contract
JUL 1, 1999, M2 Communications - Lucent Technologies has signed a contract worth US$45m with Carolina PCS I Limited Partnership to supply the latter with Global System for Mobile Communications technology so it can operate a Personal Communication Services network in South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia, US. Lucent has also signed a contract with Telefonica Data for the supply of its InterNetworking portfolio of broadband network services, to create a multi-service network that will be available in 15 countries in Europe and the Americas. The contract could be worth US$200m by 2002 depending on the growth of the services where they are deployed. In other news, NTS Communications Inc has selected Lucent as its exclusive supplier of switching and access products for the next three years in a contract worth about US$15m. Lucent will supply 5ESS Switches and switching software as well as its AnyMedia Access System and Digital Subscriber Line products.
