"2. The list of subjects in the subjectmarks list is much more difficult to read in the beta than in the old version. Perhaps its the boxes around the old version that
helps readability, but again the lines are long and to get the data my eye has to follow along the line alllll the way across the page. The old version used multiple
lines but the pertinent data was close together and easy to spot at a glance. "

What if they used different color bands across the page for each line? Nothing bright, but pale colors, like alternating tan and white lines? It would make it easier to follow across the page.

Page is too wide as far as the text goes I agree. After using this for a couple of days I find reading these long lines of text going across the page bothersome. It make my eyes feel like I was forcing them to cross. Also I've checked around the web and find this to be one of the few who run continuous lines of text all the way across the page. On my monitor (17.9" viewable area) I find that I turn my whole head to read all the way across the line of text...just my eyes should be moving. Hell someone will think I'm watching ping pong or tennis. <g> I suggest cutting text line length down 40-50% from what it is now on the Beta Site.

Also the little icons at the top are too far apart and too small. Maybe just grouping them together closer would work.

1. The old SI limited the length of each line (in a thread's message text), similar to the way a newspaper limits column width. The human eye/brain can deal with only so much on a line before it becomes over-tiring. Your new
version needs to limit the line length similar to the old version to avoid this problem. (This is much more apparent
above 800x600 display.)

I disagree. I like to see as much text on the screen as I can and prefer the new screen. You can use your browser's ability to change font size (CTRL-[ & CTRL-] in Netscape) to change to the size you like best without forcing everyone to your preferences. That way we all benefit.

Triple agree. The new site hurts me.
