Established Travel Industry Executive Phil Ferri Joins as Director, Christopher D. Schutte Promoted to Vice President, Advisory Services
PhoCusWright, Inc., the leading strategy and research company for the online Internet travel marketplace, today announced the appointment of Eugene F. Quinn to chairman of the board and outside director. Philip C. Wolf will remain president and CEO. Quinn will provide strategic counsel and develop the growth opportunities necessary to lead PhoCusWright into the new century. Additionally, Phil Ferri will join the company as outside director, where he will be a key financial advisor.
Quinn is founder and president of Confluence Capital Partners, a private equity firm that advises Web-based media, eCommerce and financial services companies. Prior to running his own firm, Quinn served as senior vice president of online and interactive services for MTV Networks, a division of Viacom, Inc. Quinn was responsible for strategy, business development and technology development for online and interactive business at MTV, M2, VH1, Nickelodeon, Nick at Nite, TV land and MTVN's international networks.
Before working with MTV Networks, Quinn was with Tribune Company, a publishing, broadcasting and education company based in Chicago. He was the general manager of Tribune Interactive Network Services where he had P&L responsibility for several online and interactive businesses and served on the corporate boards of strategic partners. Quinn developed Tribune's company-wide Internet strategy and worked with business units to implement more than thirty sites on the World Wide Web. Quinn also is a director at leading eCommerce companies CheckFree Corp. (NASDAQ: CKFR) and Open Market, Inc. (NASDAQ: OMKT).
Ferri is chief financial officer of Direct Travel, Inc., where his responsibilities include financial reporting, budgeting, and taxation for the company. Prior to joining Direct Travel, Ferri was vice president and treasurer of the BISYS Group, a publicly traded company that provides outsourcing services to the banking industry. Ferri brings to PhoCusWright over 12 years experience in travel, having worked at Travelmation Corporation, American Express and Rosenbluth International.
