There is quite a bit of selection bias operating here. There may have been a larger number of people willing to take the risk - only to have the stock not behave in the expected manner.

I think another favorite long strategy is to cover your initial investment and let the rest ride.

The decisions were probably less anxiety provoking before the advent of internet FUD.
