Eric,

My sense is that WMT and AMZN have very different customer bases and target markets. Amazon is clearly looking forward to the point when it will be in direct competition with WMT; WMT is clearly more skeptical. I spent several months driving cross country a few years ago and must have gone to twenty or thirty WMTs, especially in the South, and I have to say I doubt there is a lot of overlap between WMT and Amazon powershoppers.

I think WMT and AMZN are both good long-term holds, (as is Costco)but I doubt WMT will match AMZN's long-term return.
