I would like to suggest you all do at least two islands and for us east coast people we might like to stay a bit longer since it is a long trip. The islands are close so you can leave one in the morning and be in the pool by noon at the next.....All the islands are beautiful so it is hard to choose but my favorites are the Big Island and Maui.....here is a cool trip in Maui you all should consider.....best to do on day one arriving late...check into Kula Lodge up in Kula...on the way to Haleakala Crater.....party on down the evening as we could take over the whole place...next wake at 5am and drive up to the crater for the sunrise....before the fog rolls out of the crater hike down into it as far as one can go...its thin air so hard hiking...you'll pass these plants called Silver Something or other...its the only thing that grows up there...you'll pass all these cinder cones and everywhere there is black lava and you'll here not a sound...sometimes you will not see the person in front of you becausxe of the fog.....anyway then you hike out go back to KULA Lodge...shower ....have breakfast and then check out down to your beach front hotel....take the high road down thru the cane fields to Kihae....the whether is wet in January but in Kihue ( site of Wailia Grade) where I would suggest you get a hotel its usually pretty dry even when its raining elsewhere.
